The Secret Agents (Indra Ameng, Keke Tumbuan)

Emerging South East Asian Culture Wave and the Challenges

The Secret Agents are Indra Ameng and Keke Tumbuan; a duo working on projects involving photography-based art, good music, and other delightful things since 2006. They are based in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Secret Agents started out working together on conceptual photography projects. Then, on account of their shared appreciation of good music, they started a monthly live music gig called “Superbad!” in 2008 to promote independent local bands/musicians. Since 2011, in collaboration with the artists’ collective ruangrupa, they started organizing a series of annual three-day alternative music and art festivals under the name RRREC Fest (ruangrupa Record Festival). These are: RRREC Fest (held in public spaces in Jakarta), RRREC Fest in The Valley (held at a campsite on the mountains in Sukabumi), and also a music program called RRREC Fest Showcase. All showcasing captivating music from South East Asia and more. It is also a music conference with all kinds of interesting programs and activities. They are currently producing a music photography zine called “Pliket”, with young music photographers across Indonesia.
